The Texas Stars have announced their long-awaited return to the professional football league.
The team will begin play in 2019 as a new affiliate of the San Antonio Express-News.
The Stars will wear the alternate jersey in 2019, and will play their home games in the Alamodome, home of the Texas Rangers.
The Dallas Stars will have a brand new stadium that opened in 2020.
The franchise announced the move to the new stadium on Friday.
They will host the New York Jets in 2019 and then host the Washington Capitals in 2020 before returning to their home state for the 2021 season.
The team is owned by Tom Hicks, a former professional football player.
They have won two championships in the National Hockey League (NHL) and two more in the American Hockey League.
The franchise has also won two playoff series, one of which in 2015.
The Texas Stars announced in December they would begin play as an independent team.
They were previously part of the American Basketball Association.
